3 Ways To Use Coffee As A Cosmetic
Tuesday, September 26, 2017Coffee is a bit of a miracle bean. Aside from the myriad of household uses, it’s also a common ingredient in some of our favorite skin care and beauty products. Coffee lifts, tightens, and tones your mornings and also—when applied externally—your face. We like these three easy DIY coffee skin care treatments, but also know that true coffee fanatics likely already have more than a few coffee-scented/infused/imbued cosmetics already on the shelf.
Bronzing Body Exfoliator — Mix a quarter cup of the very finely ground coffee of your choice with a few generous dashes of each: coconut oil, olive oil and the fragrant essential oil of your choice. Slather yourself from head to toe while you shower. Rinse to reveal glowing, rejuvenated skin. Pro Tip: put something in your drain to catch the grounds lest they clog the heck out of your pipes.
Scalp Stimulating Shine Treatment — Mixing a few tablespoons of used grounds and strong coffee in with a quarter cup of your favorite conditioner can help stimulate hair growth and give your hair a glassy shine. Use this tonic once a week for best results.
Miracle Facial Mask — Not terribly unlike the formula for the body scrub, this mask utilizes equal parts coffee grounds and solid coconut oil. Mix one tablespoon of each and smooth it over your face, letting it rest for about ten minutes or so before rinsing with warm water. Your skin will be luminous and fresh.
