Let’s say you are craving a nice cool drink to quench that summer-like thirst. A milkshake sounds good, but you want something special, maybe something new, maybe something that is a local favorite for Gresham residents. Enter the Crouching Tiger milkshake.
The Crouching Tiger Milkshake
This milkshake is a blend of chocolate caramel with espresso bean. With its perfect balance of sweetness and caffeine it will unlock an individual’s special hidden talents—for some this may mean kung-fu, for others it may mean drinking through a straw.
We can only assume the milkshake’s name comes from the movie, which is based on the ancient Chinese idiom, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”. If you thought this post was just about one flavor of milkshake, you will be happy to know that you will also gain incredible trivia.
In China, we would call Gresham’s most popular milkshake Wuo hu zhan long. Which directly translates to “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”. Before it was the name of a movie (and a milkshake) it was known as a Cheng Yu, or a Chinese idiom used to refer to people with special hidden talents. In the West, we have our own Cheng Yu that we have shortened to “sour grapes”. Sour grapes is a shortcut reference to Aesop’s The Fox, The Grapes.
